Child Dedications
We'd love to partner with you for this family milestone.

We love child dedications. Please let us know if you are interested in having your child dedicated by filling out the form below, and a member of our team will follow up with you!

What is child dedication?
It is a public act in which believing parent(s), and sometimes entire families, make a commitment before the Lord to submit a child to God’s will and to raise that child according to God’s Word and God’s ways. Also, child dedication is implied in the Scriptures (see below).

Why do we do child dedications at Victory?
We believe that children are a gift from God. Like everything good in life, they come from God, and they belong to him. Parents are caretakers of the children God gave them. Christian parents who dedicate a child make a promise to the Lord to raise the child in a godly way, prayerfully, until he or she makes a decision on his or her own to follow God.

Where do we find examples of child dedication in the scriptures?
Jesus was presented in Jerusalem:

“And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord.” Luke 2:21-22

Hannah dedicates Samuel to the Lord:

“And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the LORD in Shiloh: and the child was young. And they slew a bullock and brought the child to Eli. And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the LORD. For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there.” I Sam 1:24-28

As parents, what else should we consider?
Are we (am I) willing to oversee our child’s Christian development? Scripture tells us that we are to train a child in how he should go (Proverbs 22:6). This includes meeting together regularly as Christians to spur one another on to love one another and do good deeds (Hebrews 10:23-24). Dedicating children to God is a promise to model a Christian lifestyle to the children worshipping with a church family regularly. Therefore, a Christian Dedication of a child is a dedication of the parent(s) to be a godly role model.
