A letter from Pastors Ed and Lisa
Christmas is the season when we recognize the greatest gift ever given: our Savior, Jesus. Christmas is also the season that we as followers of Jesus express God’s call to give of ourselves to bless the people we love. And as we at Victory Church know, the giving of ourselves for God’s purposes extends beyond exchanging presents with our families and loved ones.
For the last few years, we have given the Victory Church family an opportunity to bless others in the region and around the world through The Love Offering. Our giving as a church has provided for the proclamation of the Good News to, and for the relief of poverty and pain for, literally thousands of people.
The Love Offering is a special gift, a missions’ offering over and above our normal giving, to extend our outreach beyond our normal reach of ministry. Through The Love Offering we support missionaries through various agencies all around the world. We support organizations such as ACLAMO in Norristown, Messiah’s Mandate in Israel, and through our partnership with Compassion International, we launched a brand-new child development center in Nicaragua.
This year, we are taking a little different approach to The Love Offering. You can make your gift now through December 31, but we are especially asking that you give your best offering on December 10, Love Offering Sunday. Of course, you can give by offering envelope, by texting to 77977, or online at getvictory.net/give.
Would you ask God what he wants you to do to support The Love Offering? Since this is Jesus’ birthday, let’s give him the biggest gift possible so even more people locally and around the world have a reason to celebrate. Thank you for doing your part as we show the love of God to families throughout the world!
In His love,
“May the Lord make your love increase and
overflow for each other and for everyone else…”
1 Thessalonians 3:12
Love Offering Frequently Asked Questions
Very often these days we hear people lamenting about the “Commercialization of Christmas,” and in truth we probably all share that lament in some way. However; we also love the Christmas season and the joy which it ushers in throughout the world! It’s our belief that the best way to remain in THE Spirit of Christmas is to remember what we are celebrating…Jesus’ birthday! What do you do for someone when they have a birthday, that’s right, you give them a gift. That’s exactly what we are doing with our love offering. It’s our way of giving Jesus a birthday present.
Yep, we know what you’re thinking what can we give God? He has no needs we can meet. Well, that’s not exactly true. Jesus himself taught us, in Matthew 25:40 in the parable of the sheep and goats, “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ By giving to those in need, we are ultimately giving a gift to Jesus the King of Kings.
As part of God’s plan to grow the faith of the people in His church, He calls us to sacrificial giving from time to time. The Love Offering is an opportunity for us to grow in our faith and to prepare us for what God wants to do through our church in 2018. This offering is not because we are behind on budget, but rather is to position us to make a greater impact in our church, in our nation, and around the world.
The regular Victory Church offering is the proportional amount (the full tithe of 10% of income) that we set apart and give throughout the year. From time to time there are opportunities to give in a sacrificial way. The Love Offering is one of those sacrificial occasions which stretch us to grow in our faith. The Love Offering should be over and above what you regularly give.
We are a church that dares to dream big dreams for God. The ministries supported by this offering are BIG! These funds will go to help us support all of our Foreign Missions endeavors including Ron Cantor & Messiah’s Mandate, our Belize Mission, Compassion International and all the support we provide missionaries monthly around the globe. It will also go towards great works we support and do locally such as Convoy of Hope Norristown, Aclamo, Benevolence, Monthly Breakfast, Coat drives, etc. Big dreams require big faith and big funding. The accomplishment of these big dreams will be determined by your gifts to the Love Offering.
We will receive The Love Offering on December 10, 2017. However, you can continue to give through December 31, 2017 and if you like into January of 2018. Please mark the “LOVE OFFERING” on the regular offering envelopes or include a note designating that your gift is for the Love Offering. Remember, consistent gifts over time add up: a person giving $50 per week over an 8-week period will give $400 to the Love Offering. All gifts given by December 31, 2015 are tax-deductible for the year 2017.
The Love Offering will involve everyone. Please prayerfully consider a sacrificial gift that will stretch your faith. The precise amount you give is between you and God. Many in our church can give a $1,000, $5,000 or even a $10,000 gift. Others will be able to give between $100 and $500. The issue is not equal giving, but equal sacrifice. What amount can you give that will stretch your faith?
Yes. When you give at getvictory.net/give via online giving, simply select “Love Offering” under the drop-down menu. Likewise, you can use your bank online payment option to send a check directly to the church office. Again, simply mark in the memo area that your gift is for the “Love Offering.” You can give by texting “getvictory” to 77977 and again choosing the Love Offering on the menu.
Of course! Since Victory Church is a 501c3 organization there can be tremendous tax benefits for you by giving in-kind gifts. For information on this type of giving, simply contact Pastor Jim at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All gifts to Victory Church, whether via the regular offering or the Love Offering, are completely tax-deductible. Your gift will be deductible in the tax year given (i.e., gifts given in 2017 will be deductible on your 2017 taxes). Please be sure to include your name and address when you give so that a receipt can be sent to you for your tax preparations. You are not required to utilize a tax-deduction for your gift, but it is available for all gifts.
